Pre-School Pre-Prep Pastoral Care

We understand the importance of supporting a child’s wellbeing from their very first days at school.

Wellbeing is at the heart of our approach

At Pocklington Pre-School and Pre Prep, we believe in fostering a warm and nurturing environment where every single child feels valued and supported. We have lots of experience supporting the wellbeing of our young learners, and our dedicated staff are committed to understanding the unique needs of every child.

Through personalised attention and commitment to fostering a strong sense of community, we are able to ensure that every child feels safe, understood and encouraged to explore the world with curiosity and joy.

We are extremely fortunate to have small class sizes, which allow for strong and consistent communication between home and school, meaning that we can adapt and tailor our approach to the needs of each child.

We are also privileged to have the dedicated ‘Chill and Chat Room’ in our Prep School, which provides a space for mindfulness and relaxation. A Play Therapist also joins our team of wellbeing professionals, ensuring that the pastoral care of our youngest pupils is uniquely and specially cared for.

Mind, Body, and Soil

We are pleased to offer the ‘Mind, Body and Soil’ initiative for all our Pre-School and Pre Prep pupils aged 2 to 7. This initiative links mindfulness with an appreciation of the environment, encouraging a love for the outdoors and positive wellbeing. Children tend their plots by planting seeds, watering plants and growing a variety of seasonal produce. The initiative not only teaches children a sense of responsibility and resilience, it also fosters an appreciation of nature and inspires children to reflect on different mindfulness practices and how they can care for their wellbeing.
