I’ve worked here as a Prep School Teacher for 12 years. I love the opportunity to teach creatively and work with the wonderful children who are like sponges! I have lovely colleagues who are always supportive and great fun to work with. The benefits of working here are great - the lunches are amazing, it’s like an all inclusive holiday or being on a cruise and the long summer holidays are an added bonus.

Working at Pocklington has been a great career choice, in the 8 years I have been here the friendly atmosphere and the family feel has been evident throughout. As a department it is brilliant to know that we all support each other and are able to help one another when needed. My line manager is awesome and not only a colleague but a friend. The school has allowed me to challenge myself but also to develop and push myself into new career options, I have acquired new roles and responsibilities and am involved in all areas of school life. The boarding, the sport and the academic are all important parts of my day to day routine and whilst I am very busy - I wouldn't change a thing.

Pocklington School is a very welcoming place to work. From my first day I immediately felt that I had made the correct choice in joining the school.
Within my role I have been given the opportunity to take on training to further my skills and help my department.

As I enter my 20th year here at Pocklington, I’m reminded of something a teacher (who was about to retire) told me as I started my career here: “you get older but the children will always be the same age”. I laughed at the time, but how true it is! Within the Sixth Form, where I have spent the majority of my time at Pock, we guide them carefully, watch and congratulate as they become young adults, driving tests are passed, 18th birthdays are celebrated… and continue to be so proud of them as they move on to live their lives after school whatever that adventure will be.
I have been privileged to work with a wonderful mix of staff and students over the 20 years, and here’s to many more!
