Pocklington School’s proud heritage dates back over 500 years, to 1514 when our founder John Dolman established a guild to provide support to the local poor and a school to help local children gain an education.
Our commitment to empowering young minds is at the heart of our ethos
The Pocklington School Foundation is a registered charity, offering co-education to day pupils from 2 to 18 years old and boarders from 9 years old through to 18. It is made up of Pocklington Prep School, our primary school, and Pocklington School, for our senior pupils.
Nestled in the East Yorkshire town of Pocklington, the Senior School has been situated on the West Green site since its inception. However, the primary school was previously located on the outskirts of Pocklington, in a large Victorian house called Lyndhurst before moving to the main school site in 1987. Over the years, the primary provision has evolved to include Pre-School and Pre-Prep and in 2014, was formally renamed Pocklington Prep School.
At Pocklington School, we strive to maintain our longstanding tradition of nurturing intellectual curiosity and empowering our pupils to make a positive difference in society. In addition to specialist teaching facilities for academic subjects and four boarding houses, our 50-acre campus includes the 300-seat Tom Stoppard Theatre as well as 21-acres of grass rugby, cricket, and hockey pitches. There are two full-sized synthetic pitches, which can be used for hockey and netball in the winter and transformed into 18 tennis courts in the summer. We also have an indoor swimming pool and an indoor sports hall.
