After School Care Holiday Clubs

We pride ourselves in providing excellent support for our families. Our before and after-school care, extended day and flexible boarding options, help ease the day-to-day pressures of workplace demands and modern living during a busy working week. The good news is that we have got the school holidays covered too!

Before-school care - making a good start to the day

For our youngest pupils in Pre-School, we run ‘Early Birds’ from 8.00am based in our specialist ‘Chill ‘n’ Chat’ room, where children can relax in a calm environment before starting the school day.

Pre-Prep, Prep and senior pupils can enjoy breakfast in the main dining hall from 8.10am for a small charge. Prep and senior pupils can choose whether to bring their parents along too, whereas this is a requirement for Pre-Prep pupils.

After-school care - a safe, fun and familiar environment for children to unwind after the school day

Pocklington Prep School

Pocklington Prep School has an after-school care programme for children aged 3 to 11, where they can participate in play, crafts and outdoor activities for an additional fee. Pupils from Year 3 and above, first gather in a separate room for homework before joining  younger children after 4.30pm for a snack. For a small additional charge, a hot two-course evening meal is offered for those who stay longer, all under staff supervision.

After-school care sessions can be booked in advance, with regular session bookings preferred. However, we appreciate that plans can alter, so last minute changes can be accommodated by notifying the School first. Children not picked up by 3.50pm will be taken to after-school care, with fees starting from 4.00pm, charged by the half-hour. Prep School children will receive free after-school care if a sports fixture is cancelled.

Pocklington School

Free after-school care is provided for pupils from Year 7 and above. Lower School pupils can go to a supervised prep room to do homework and after 5.00pm, with prior registration with the school librarian, they can be supervised in the Library until 5.45pm. Middle School and Sixth Form pupils who can not be picked up by 3.50pm can stay in their respective common areas until 5.00pm. If they stay beyond that, they must register in advance with the school librarian, to be supervised until 5.45pm.

We offer extended day and occasional boarding provision if you need your child to stay at school later than 5.45pm

Extended day boarding

Pupils in Year 5 and above can stay in our boarding houses until 8.00pm as part of our extended day boarding service. They can do this for two to four evenings per week or occasional evenings as needed. They will be assigned to the appropriate boarding house and can join other boarders for meals, study and activities before going home. This gives children time to relax with friends while also studying and eating well.

Occasional boarding

During busy times like exams or school performances, pupils in Year 5 and above can occasionally board for one night per week from Monday to Thursday, if space in the appropriate boarding house permits. This gives parents peace of mind and allows pupils to stay in familiar surroundings. Fees for this service are in addition to day fees and must be booked in advance with the head of boarding.

Occasional boarding is a great way of introducing children to the benefits of boarding. More information about our extensive boarding packages can be found on our ‘Boarding Options’ page.
