We are delighted to share our latest report from the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) which found Pocklington Prep School and Pocklington School to be compliant in all aspects of the inspection, with all relevant standards being met.
'The quality of edcuation was consistently high.'
Inspectors were impressed with a great deal of what they found when they visited both schools in January 2025. In their report, which assesses the quality of our pupils’ academic and other achievements, along with their personal development, inspectors said:
“The school delivers a comprehensive and well-structured curriculum that reflects the core values of courage, truth, and trust. These principles are well established in daily school life.
“The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities that pupils value… In participating, pupils gain a sense of self-esteem and confidence… the extensive opportunities offered support pupils to further develop their interests in creative, academic and physical activities… This impacts positively on pupils’ wellbeing and wider development.
“In the early years, pupils make rapid progress in a stimulating environment… highly skilled practitioners deliver a broad and stimulating programme of activities. This promotes children’s rapid progress across all areas of learning.
“Pupils’ wellbeing is a priority. They are supported to leave school with a strong sense of personal and social responsibility.
“Pupils behave maturely and respectfully. The positive way in which they meet the school's high expectations of their behaviour is rewarded.
“Boarders enjoy a welcoming, happy, and supportive home from home experience.
“Pupils engage in volunteering, charity work and community outreach. They enjoy helping others.
“Pupils are well prepared for the next stage in their education.”
Toby Seth, Headmaster at Pocklington School, remarked:
I would like to thank the ISI team for their approach which was collaborative, supportive and constructive. My thanks also go to all my colleagues. Finally, thank you to all pupils, parents and guardians who responded to ISI's surveys, which formed a significant part of the inspection process."

"We are delighted to report positively on this successful visit from ISI and are extremely proud of the feedback contained in the report.
As with all ISI reports, it includes two recommendations which we have already begun to address.
We remain committed to building on this excellent outcome for our school community."
