Brand new astroturfs set to inspire excellence in hockey and tennis
Over the summer, Pocklington School installed two new, state-of-the-art astroturf pitches, poised to transform our sports provision and inspire our students' athletic performance.
Two brand new, sand-dressed astroturf pitches have been fitted by Bernhard’s Sports Surfaces. The previous surfaces had been in place at the school for many years and were due this exciting new upgrade.
These new pitches are formed of sand-dressed artificial turf. They feature a unique two-toned design with a dark green playing surface bordered by a lighter green turf, offering a highly professional appearance.
Sand-dressed artificial turf is a high-specification surface designed for fast-paced hockey and is highly popular with university and regional hockey clubs. This ensures that our pupils are well practiced on the surfaces that they will compete on around the country.
The decision to renew the pitches was driven by our commitment to providing the best possible facilities for our pupils, and our desire to ensure that their competitive performance is supported by the most up-to-date and complementary sports provision.
The new pitches will allow us to continue offering quality sports provision across the entire Foundation. The upgrade not only enhances our facilities but also motivates pupils to achieve their best in their sporting endeavours.
David Byas, Director of Sport at Pocklington School, said:
" We are one of very few schools in the North to have two astroturf pitches. Having the carpets rewnewed will bring vibrancy and renewed inspiration to the current generation of students and many more students that will follow over the coming years .”
We are excited to see our students excel on these new pitches and look forward to many successful seasons of hockey and tennis ahead!
